FAQ

Once we decide we want you to do our wedding, how do we proceed?

After we have had our initial consultation and you decide we are a great match, just sign the short one page contract, place a small deposit and you will have a copy of a possible ceremony to go over. I will have same in a Word Document so we can go over it together. Your date for both the wedding and the rehearsal will be “on the books” and we will stay in contact going over details up until the very moment I “pronounce” you. My home phone 215 621 6810, my cell phone 610 551 7553 and my email [email protected] are on the top of your contract. You do not have to hesitate at all ANY TIME to contact me with any concern or detail – it is my pleasure to be with you all the way through!

What are your qualifications?

I am an ordained Interfaith Minister and Doctor of Religious Humanities. I am fully licensed and qualified to perform all types of ceremonies in all areas of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Delaware (as well as pretty much every state). I have performed numerous wedding ceremonies outside the tri-state area. I can also provide other services.

What would happen if you cannot perform my ceremony due to an emergency?

Once we have met and signed our contract, it is my duty to be there and I consider this a trust. I work closely with many different ministers so even in the event of an emergency, I would be able to find someone very well qualified to perform your ceremony. I would do the same for them if they had an emergency. I have been very fortunate to never have needed a replacement and have never missed a ceremony!. Like any professional, I keep myself in top shape and consider every service top priority.

Can we get married in a church if we don’t belong to one?

Yes, most churches will welcome you. There are different rules or procedures for every church. Contact the church and ask them and then set up an appointment if necessary. There is often a fee included. A few suggested sites:

How do I go about changing my name after we are married?

Social Security has a rule that the bride must file an SS-5 form (a new application form showing change of name and /or marital status) within the fiscal year for tax purposes, (The SS-5 form should be filed, even if you are keeping your own name) along with an original proof of marriage if you have been married before.   Check with Social Security first, to make sure you arrive with exactly what they need. It is likely that they will they just look at it and return it to you. Don’t take a day off from work to go to the Motor Vehicle Bureau and any of the other place until you have an original marriage certificate in hand.

Change your name and address if applicable on the following:

  1. Driver’s License
  2. Auto Registration
  3. Auto Insurance
  4. Health Insurance Providers
  5. Social Security Records
  6. Voter Registration
  7. Bank Accounts
  8. Credit Cards

How long is the average wedding ceremony?

Most ceremonies are between 15-30 minutes, depending on what the couple wants to include in the ceremony. The length of the ceremony varies depending on what you include such as someone doing a reading, roses to the mothers, inclusion of special touches such as a sand ceremony or unity candles, and many other options. The length is also determined by the number of people in the wedding party and even music selections. There is no extra cost for any extra additions. I will be happy to go over all ceremony options with you and I welcome your ideas.

What is the fee for performing a wedding service?

There are many variables for weddings such as date, location, time and complexity of the ceremony, rehearsal or no rehearsal. I am quite affordable, knowing that weddings costs add up. If you email or call me with the particulars of your wedding, I will be able to tell you the cost.

How do we get our marriage license?

The guidelines for getting a marriage license depend upon the state and even the county you will be married in. Pennsylvania has different requirements than, say New Jersey. The process is simple. Here is a website that provides information for all states of the U.S., and also provides a list of the county offices where you can go to apply for your license:www.usmarriagelaws.com.

Is pre-marital counseling a requirement?

No, it is not. However, if you want to meet and discuss any issues pertaining to your upcoming marriage, I am glad to meet with you. I do offer a free consultation to get to know you and begin the process.

Do we need to have a rehearsal?

A rehearsal is not an absolute necessity, however, most couples feel more comfortable on their wedding day if they have rehearsed. If this is not an option, there are numerous steps that I do with every couple that will make you feel at ease such as:

  •  Early arrival  to the wedding site, usually one hour before the wedding begins, so that we can go over anything which needs to be addressed.
  • Your pre-approved wedding script is with me and every word has been finalized prior to the wedding day.
  • I will meet with the site co-ordinator and the DJ or musicians prior to the ceremony to go over all cues.
  • I will address any and every question that arises throughout the planning stages.
  • You have my personal pledge that your ceremony will be my only priority from the day that we first speak until the moment that I pronounce you!
What areas do you service?

I live in Philadelphia, PA and I travel extensively throughout  Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and New York. I also have many associated wedding officiants at various locations and can  recommend one if I cannot do perform your  wedding for any reason.
